Adult social care is in dire need of fixing in this country. Families are paying an average of £80,000 towards care costs, local authorities are spending £35 billion a year and two million older people have unmet care needs. As a GP, I’ve struggled with getting social care for patients. Adult social care should be community-led, run in the interests of people, not profit. We must get this right, many of you will have your own views on social care shaped by your experiences.
