Under changes to state law that go into effect this year, candidates for school board elections can list a party affiliation. The outcome could be one of the earliest decisions by an Indiana elections board regarding partisan school board candidates. This is the first election cycle in which the law about partisan school board races will be in effect. Cornett and Bultman were both finalists to fill the District 4 vacancy on the IPS school board following the resignation of board member Allissa Impink. The school board voted in June to appoint Bultman, who will serve until the newly elected school board member is sworn in.
