Medicare Advantage plans now use AI to process prior authorization requests rapidly. In response to growing concern about how AI-driven authorization practices differ between Medicare Advantage plans, Key2Medicare is now incorporating prior authorization burden and plan-level denial history into its plan comparison consultations for Colorado beneficiaries. They don’t show how often a plan denies prior authorization requests or how often those denials are overturned on appeal. Key2Medicare also explains what beneficiaries can do when a Medicare Advantage plan issues a denial. The use of AI in Medicare Advantage approvals will expand as plans manage rising enrollment volumes.
