RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit investigating suspicious death on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) is investigating after human remains were located following a house fire on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation, SK. On July 26, 2026, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Ahtahkakoop RCMP responded to a report of a residential fire on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation. Subsequent investigation, in coordination with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, has determined the death is suspicious in nature. Saskatchewan RCMP’s HIU now has carriage of the investigation. Saskatchewan RCMP continue to investigate.
