Liz Jarvis, Liberal Democrat MP for Eastleigh, has expressed her disappointment after Loganair said they will shut their base at Southampton Airport in October. "Southampton Airport is a major local employer and I am concerned about the impact this may have on local jobs and the local economy in Eastleigh and across the region." Loganair announced the closure as part of a wider network review and said the Southampton–Manchester service will end on August 20. A spokesperson for Southampton Airport added: "We are disappointed by Loganair's decision to withdraw its Southampton–Manchester service and close its operating base at Southampton later this year."
