State health leaders say everyone can start eating lettuce again, even the bagged kind.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced this week that the state’s cyclosporiasis outbreak appears to be slowing and people can once again follow normal food safety guidelines.
Bagdasarian says it’s up to each individual whether they want to return to normal, but the state health department believes they now can.
Bagdasarian says some health systems were overwhelmed with the number of cyclosporiasis cases, leading to delays in the reporting of new cases.
The state health department says it will continue monitoring the situation and will release updated outbreak data each Thursday.
