International art collective teamLab has unveiled its latest seasonal interactive installation, Life is the Small Sun Flickering in the Dark, at the permanent nighttime open-air museum teamLab Botanical Garden Osaka inside Nagai Park. Featuring a soundscape created by composer Hideaki Takahashi, the 2026 installation transforms a field of roughly 20,000 white sunflowers into an ethereal, glowing landscape where living flora, technology, and human presence merge into a single interactive ecosystem. Operating on view through August 16, 2026 – subject to the seasonal blooming period of the flowers – the exhibition turns the botanical garden into a dynamic sensory environment after dusk. This initial pulse of light and sound rapidly ripples outward to adjacent sunflowers, creating a continuous wave that radiates through the entire field.
