In a landmark ruling against Meta, a New Mexico judge likened the company’s social media platforms to factories.
The ruling came in the second phase of a trial in a lawsuit the state of New Mexico filed against the social media giant.
For parents in New Mexico, the ruling could change the conversations with their teens about social media use.
Heather Statum, an Albuquerque mother of a 13-year-old girl, says her daughter is constantly requesting access to various social media platforms.
“The stuff (social media companies) have in place to protect them, I don’t think any of it actually works,” Statum said.
