The eclipse is then expected to end in Dorset at around 8:08pm. The Royal Museum's Greenwich define a solar eclipse as an event which occurs when the Earth, Moon and Sun align. There are a number different types of solar eclipse: total, annular, hybrid and partial. Appropriate protection for viewing the eclipse is strongly advised due to the fact that it will be a partial eclipse in Dorset, the Sun will still be partially visible. Checking weather via the Met Office is also advised before trying to view the eclipse as clouds could potentially cause visibility disruption.
