Wessex Internet, based in Dorset and operating across large parts of the Westcountry, has been named one of the Best of British Businesses 2026 by The Independent and Business Reporter. Recent beneficiaries include the Big Yellow Bus Garden Project, a volunteer run community garden in Shillingstone, which could not afford broadband access to its site until Wessex Internet stepped in to create a bespoke connection and sponsor the project. "We were left with a game changing, reliable and fast internet connection that also gave us an essential phone line. Founded in 2010 by the late James Gibson Fleming MBE, Wessex Internet now employs 350 people and has connected more than 60,000 properties through over 7,700km of full-fibre cable. The company has earned 15 industry awards, including Best Customer Loyalty at the ISPA Awards 2025 and UK Fibre Provider of the Year at the UK Fibre Awards 2023.
