Lang8/8/26A Lone Tree man accused of murdering his father has entered a not guilty plea. 52-year-old Scott Powers entered the plea on Friday. Powers is accused of shooting his father, 76-year-old Richard Powers, on the night of July 13th at his father’s residence on West Elm Street. Law enforcement personnel learned from a witness that Powers had earlier told another family member that he was going to kill his father. Powers was arrested by Cedar Rapids Police and transported to University of Iowa Health Care on Hawkins Drive for medical treatment before his incarceration.
