Urges people to adopt rainwater harvestingJammu Tawi, Aug 7: Urging people to conserve water and avoid its wastage, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to provide safe, adequate and quality drinking water to every citizen. Addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stones of major water supply and sewerage projects in Udhampur and Reasi, CM Omar said sustainable management of water resources requires collective public participation. We must use drinking water judiciously and avoid its wastage. CM Omar said preserving water resources and constructing check dams would strengthen water conservation and groundwater recharge. Describing Rs 124.19-crore Udhampur water supply project as a significant step towards strengthening the town’s water infrastructure, CM Omar said it would ensure a sustainable supply of safe and quality drinking water while meeting the needs of its growing population.
