The proposal would also reduce required instructional time to three hours per day for 128 days each year and mandate English-only instruction in Head Start classrooms.
The administration argues that reducing federal requirements would give states and local Head Start providers greater flexibility and reduce administrative burdens.
“Head Start has made that promise real for millions of children across our nation,” said the Rev.
Wilson stated that Head Start has historically addressed more than classroom instruction by helping families overcome barriers created by poverty and unequal access to opportunity.
