A Point About CredibilityDuring a recent discussion about Shell, Wikipedia and the evidential standards required when making claims about a multinational corporation, I made a point that deserves expanding. For decades I have published material concerning Shell including:internal Shell emails;whistleblower allegations;court documents;regulatory proceedings;environmental controversies;safety allegations;corporate surveillance;Shell’s historical record;Sakhalin-2;Nigeria;Brent Bravo;corporate governance;and Shell’s own internal discussions about me and my websites. And there is a boundary beyond which the evidence does not presently allow us to go. That statement concerns my own publishing record and should be understood as such unless and until the underlying correspondence is assembled into a formal documentary chronology. If I have misstated the number or nature of Shell’s substantive challenges to my online publications over the past three decades, Shell is welcome to provide the documentary record correcting me.
