The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is investigating a crash involving a motorcyclist who was allegedly fleeing Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers early Friday morning.
According to the civilian police watchdog, an SPS officer attempted to stop a speeding motorcycle at about 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 7.
The IIO said the rider did not stop and instead fled, at one point driving into oncoming traffic before colliding with a vehicle.
BC Emergency Health Services paramedics attended the scene and treated the motorcyclist, who was later transported to hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has relevant dashcam or cellphone video, to contact the IIO.
