Update Your Mac Now: Apple Issues Fix for Critical Screen-Sharing Flaw
['About Our Expert']
PCMag Australia
Apple has issued emergency updates for macOS Sonoma, Sequoia, and Tahoe to fix a security flaw that allows attackers to use screen sharing on your computer without proper authentication.
Depending on the macOS version you run, install macOS Sonoma 14.8.9, macOS Sequoia 15.7.9, or macOS Tahoe 26.6.1 to fix the issue.
Apple released macOS 26.6 just last week, so a quick follow-up suggests the issue was serious.
In its release notes, Apple says that “an attacker on the network may be able to authenticate to Screen Sharing without valid credentials.”
The latest version of macOS, meanwhile, macOS Golden Gate 27, is in public beta.
