If Orbital Data Centers Take Off, Brace For Giant Rings In The Night Sky
['About Our Expert']

As companies race to build orbiting data centers, scientists are starting to warn the same systems could create giant rings of artificial satellites around Earth, altering the night sky with more light pollution.
But now scientists are starting to create simulations to visualize what these orbital data centers could look like around Earth and in the night sky.
Other industry players , including Blue Origin and startups Starcloud and Cowboy Space, also want to tap the Sun’s energy for their own space-based data centers.
Lawler has posted several videos to show how the fully-built orbiting data centers from SpaceX, Blue Origin and Cowboy Space could appear for a user on the ground.
That said, the videos are merely simulations when orbital data centers remain in their infancy.
