A person was in critical condition Friday after being shot by Riverside County Sheriff's deputies in Moreno Valley, authorities said. Deputies responded to a report about someone experiencing a mental health crisis at a home on Villa Hermosa just after 4 p.m., according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. The individual was hit by gunfire and taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to the sheriff's department. Authorities have not released the identities of the person shot and the deputies involved in the shooting. The department said the deputies involved will be placed on paid administrative leave, in accordance with its policy.
