He heard it even more over the past 36 years when the two best friends would travel to officiate a basketball or softball game over the years. Instead of hearing that story from Crawford again, Fahrow and other friends, family, coaches and players whose games Crawford officiated are mourning his loss. Steve Endress remembers when he’d see Crawford umpiring his recreational slowpitch games and quickly began working with him, as both began their careers around the same time. But most of all, Endress remembers a friend who was an attentive umpire who was adored by the coaches, players and fans wherever he worked. Fahrow, Endress and Austell all hailed his ability to seemingly always be in the right spot with his eyes in the right place.
