SHARLENE MAWDSLEY HAS lost her race against the clock in a bid to be fit for next week’s European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. The 27-year-old pulled up injured during the 200m final at last month’s National Athletics Championships and was later diagnosed with a torn hamstring. “I’m so sad to say that I won’t be making the start line at the European Championships next week,” she said in a statement.
