Stourport Town Council said despite the "incredible outpouring" of public support after the previously carnival committee announced they would be stepping down at the start of the year, there has only been 11 people so far who have signed up to help at this year's event. The town council said they "desperately" needed volunteers to help marshal the road closures during the walking parade. In a post on social media, Stourport Town Council said: "We desperately need volunteers and in particular, volunteers who will marshal the road closures during the walking parade. Those who might be willing to volunteer should visit www.stourporttowncouncil.gov.uk/.../volunteering/ and complete the form to register your interest and the town council will be in touch. The town council added: "Thank you to those people who have already agreed to help on the day - every helping hand truly makes a difference."
