Sion Jones, an on-call firefighter with Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS), was crowned Senior Open Champion at the 2026 Welsh Time Trial Championship. On his firefighting role, Mr Jones said: "I'm really enjoying the experience and learning new skills every day. Cycling has been a part of 20-year-old Mr Jones’ life since childhood, with his first competitions beginning at the age of four. In October 2025, Mr Jones expanded his ambitions by joining MAWWFRS as an on-call firefighter. Following his initial training, Mr Jones continues to build his skills through regular training and operational experience.
