Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has approved the allocation of land for the establishment of a Digital Fabrication Centre by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), a project aimed at advancing technical skills development, innovation and industrialisation in the state. The approval was announced when the governor received a delegation from the ITF, led by its Director-General, Afiz Ogun, at the Government House in Enugu. Mbah said the nature of work is evolving rapidly as digital technologies increasingly shape traditional occupations, making it necessary to equip young people with practical skills that will enable them to compete globally. He expressed confidence that the proposed ITF Digital Fabrication Centre would complement the state’s efforts to build a knowledge-driven economy by promoting innovation, supporting local manufacturing and creating employment opportunities for young people. He stressed that sustained investment in digital skills and advanced manufacturing would enhance Nigeria’s global competitiveness and support long-term economic growth.
