As Clemson opened fall camp Thursday afternoon, senior Christopher Vizzina remained the leader in the Tigers’ quarterback competition. For the past few years, Cade Klubnik was one of the main leaders and faces of the Clemson football program as the Tigers’ three-year starting quarterback. Although Vizzina has started just one game and seen sporadic playing time over his previous three years at Clemson, Swinney says Vizzina has “absolutely” earned the respect of the locker room and has established himself as a leader. “Whoever got him [if Vizzina had entered the portal], they’d be writing all these great articles about this great quarterback that we got from Clemson,” Swinney said. Before enrolling at Clemson in January 2023, Vizzina was ranked among the nation’s top prospects in the 2023 recruiting class.
