Whether it's a ride way above the fairgrounds or just the perfect backdrop for a Minnesota State Fair selfie, the "Great Big Wheel" is a popular (and very recognizable) aspect of the fair each year. This year, the Great Big Wheel is being replaced. One of the new things announced for the 2026 Minnesota State Fair is an all-new ferris wheel experience, with something called the America Wheel being brought to the fair to commemorate America's 250th birthday this summer. This new America Wheel rises 230 feet above the ground, which makes this new attraction a full 75 feet higher than the Great Big Wheel you know and love from visits to the fair in years past! Much like the Great Big Wheel, this America Wheel lights up as the sun goes down, making it an even bigger photo op day or night at this year's Great Minnesota Get-Together.
