Triumph confirms new Moto2 engine is NOT based on Tiger Sport 800 or Trident 800

With Triumph recently launching its new 798cc platform in the Tiger Sport 800 and Trident 800, many assumed the answer was obvious.
Speaking to Visordown, Triumph Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent has confirmed the new Moto2 engine is not based on the Tiger Sport 800 or Trident 800.
Rather than asking how much more performance could be extracted from an existing road bike engine, Triumph first worked out what Moto2 needed from its next-generation powerplant.
