Aug 07, 2026Dwayne PageAlexandria Mayor Jeff Ford held off two challengers to win election to a full four year term in Thursday’s Municipal Election there. Ford was appointed Mayor in June 2025 by the board of aldermen after the resignation of former Mayor Beth Tripp. In the election Thursday, Ford won with 127 votes to 15 votes for Jeremy Prince but his strongest challenge came from a write-in candidate, Charles A, (Tony) Bates who received 101 write-in votes in a losing effort. In the race to fill an unexpired two-year alderman term in Alexandria Thursday, Curtis Rutter defeated Danny Parkerson 118 to 113. Even though Holmes appears to have won the alderman race finishing in the top three, questions remain about whether she may legally serve.
