Fujian Association of Guyana donates $3.26M to CDC for MV Barima tragedy relief efforts(Kaieteur News) – The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) on Friday announced that it has received a GY$3,260,000 donation from the Fujian Association of Guyana to support relief efforts for those affected by the MV Barima tragedy. According to a CDC statement, the funds were raised primarily by Fujian entrepreneurs in Guyana, contributing in both their personal and corporate capacities. Speaking on behalf of the CDC, Deputy Director General Thomas thanked the Fujian Association and the wider Chinese community for their generosity, describing the donation as a meaningful show of solidarity with the people of Guyana during a period of national grief. The Fujian Association, in turn, extended its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragedy and to all those affected. It reaffirmed its commitment to the values of unity, mutual support and social responsibility, and pledged to continue standing with the people of Guyana in times of need.
