Part of World Bank loan to finance design, supervision of National Reference Lab(Kaieteur News) – The Ministry of Health is preparing to use part of a US$22 million World Bank loan to fund the design and supervision of a new National Public Health Reference Laboratory building.
The document states that the Guyana Government has received financing from the World Bank for the One Health Project and intends to use part of the proceeds to procure consulting services covering both the pre-contract and construction phases of the project.
Bids for the project are set to open on August 31, 2026 at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office.
The wider Guyana One Health Project, valued at US$22 million, was announced by the World Bank in a press release dated March 26, 2025.
Among its components, the project will support upgrading and decentralising the national laboratory network, including transforming the National Public Health Reference Laboratory into a modern, state-of-the-art facility.
