16.5% of people 16 years or older in the EU used tobacco and related products (e-cigarettes, nicotine pouches or heated tobacco products) daily in 2025, according to Eurostat.
Both shares decreased slightly compared with 2022, when 22.2% of men and 13.1% of women smoked daily.
By age group, the highest share of daily users of tobacco and related products was in the 35 49-year group (21.3%), followed by those aged 25-34 years (19.9%) and 50-64-years (19.8%).
Among EU countries, Bulgaria (26.3%), Sweden (23.9%) and Croatia (23.6%) recorded the highest shares of daily use of tobacco and related products among people 16 years or older.
In 17 EU countries, the share of people who used tobacco and related products daily decreased between 2022 and 2025.
