Kolkata, August 7: The West Bengal government is set to organize a special exhibition titled ‘Celebrating Freedom Through Bengal’ at Lok Bhavan ahead of Independence Day. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Governor R. N. Ravi on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 5 PM. According to a press release issued by the West Bengal government, the exhibition is dedicated to the freedom fighters, revolutionaries, and patriots from Bengal whose courage and sacrifice played a significant role in India’s struggle for independence. The exhibition will be open to the general public and students from August 9 to August 14, 2026. Alongside autographs from prominent figures associated with the freedom movement, rare postcards from a century ago will also be displayed, offering glimpses of historical Kolkata at that time.
