DIMAPUR, AUG 7 (NPN): Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum (NIPF) said it had earlier requested the state government to strengthen Inner Line Permit (ILP) checks as part of efforts to address concerns over illegal immigration. Limajamir confirmed that Dimapur will host the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples for the first time on August 9, with delegates arriving from across the Northeast. He appealed to citizens concerned about indigenous issues to attend, saying the event would provide a platform to highlight challenges facing indigenous survival as well as recognise the contribution of traditional midwives. The programme will combine discussions on indigenous issues with cultural presentations and recognition of traditional midwives.
