The campaign will also involve identifying students showing signs of substance abuse and prohibiting the sale of intoxicants within 500 metres of educational institutions.
Students displaying signs of substance abuse will be counselled and, where necessary, their parents will be involved in the rehabilitation process, the government said.
Universities, colleges will also designate nodal officers to oversee implementation of the campaign.
Addressing the meeting, Minister Upadhyay said the state’s higher educational institutions should serve not only as centres of learning but also as institutions that promote values, discipline and nation-building.
If they remain free from the menace of substance abuse, the future of both the state and the nation will improve for the better,” he said.
