The Gujarat University on Friday suspended 10 officials with immediate effect based on the recommendation of a three-member committee, which was formed on August 5 following protests by student organisations alleging irregularities in the temporary appointments. The suspended officials include Group CEO, CEO, Senior Vice President, Director, Professor of Practice, among other posts in various departments. “We have received representations from student organisations like ABVP and others alleging irregularities in the appointment process and the pay structure of several temporary officials,” in-charge Vice Chancellor Jagdishkumar Joshi said. “Based on the complaints, a committee was constituted on August 5 which has recommended the suspension of 10 officials. An investigation is demanded into the appointment of the University Engineer, Chief Accounts Officer, Fire Officer, Legal Officer, Director in Centre for Professional Courses (CPC).
