The haul was discovered during an unannounced morning raid at RM Mini Market in Fairview Parade on July 28 by Havering Council’s trading standards and enforcement teams in partnership with police. Sniffer dogs assisted the Havering Joint Taskforce and Romford town centre police teams in uncovering the illegal items, which included a large quantity of illegal cigarettes and rolling tobacco. This will allow further investigations to take place, the council said, and prevent the business from selling further illegal goods. The raid followed weeks of investigation under Operation CeCe, which targets the sale and distribution of illicit and counterfeit tobacco products. "This was an intelligence-led operation carried out in partnership with Havering’s trading standards, targeting the sale of illicit tobacco and other criminality linked to these premises.
