Mufulira Wanderers defender Bwembya Kakungu has been jailed for six months after being convicted of assault by the Mufulira Court. The Super Division club confirmed the development in a statement, noting that the former Mighty captain remains detained in prison. “Mufulira Wanderers Football Club has taken note of the conviction and subsequent six-month prison sentence handed down to our player, Bwembya Kakungu, for assault,” the club board said. “The Club respects the decision of the Court and wishes to state that violence and assault have no place in Mufulira Wanderers Football Club, football or society.” Kakungu has a contract with Mighty stretching to June 2027.
