Worthing Borough Council is inviting developers to put forward proposals for the former West Buildings bus shelter on Marine Parade. It is open to either refurbishment or redevelopment of the site, provided proposals respect the heritage of the structure. Options for the "prime seafront location", which is being marketed by property agents Stiles Harold Williams on behalf of the council, include a new food, drink or leisure venue. Councillor Caroline Baxter, the leader of Worthing Borough Council, said: "The West Buildings Shelter site is an important landmark on our promenade with great potential to offer more to our residents and visitors. Alongside the shelter, the council is also looking to develop Brooklands Park on the border of Worthing and Lancing and Buckingham Park in Shoreham.
