GRAFTON, N.D. — An approaching public hearing will allow residents to discuss the Walsh County Jail project, which is close to starting.
The Grafton Board of Adjustment public hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Grafton City Hall.
The initial plan for the project was to construct a 37,685-square-foot jail with 46 beds and a new sheriff’s office, recommended by a consultant.
“By all accounts, the Walsh County Commission did not meet the requirement for the construction of a new county jail and sheriff's office,” the petition said.
"(There are) no firm plans on where to put us at this point, but (the sheriff's office) definitely will not go into the new jail project," Jurgens said.
