A century-old Upper East Side hotel is the beneficiary of Blue Owl Capital’s capacity to lend. Kensico Properties’ Lowell Hotel at 28 East 63rd Street landed $106 million to refinance previous debt, the Commercial Observer reported. The 17-story, 74-key boutique hotel is one of the more storied hospitality properties in the city, opening back in 1927; Kensico acquired it in 1984. With that piece of bookmaking done, Kensico can put more attention on one of the more interesting conversion projects in the city. The daunting prospect of developing a hotel today could come with a big reward on the other end.
