I spoke to Gluck about this, and about these vastly different aspects of the movie: the fun, light-hearted side, and the underbelly of dystopia. There's the fun and the entertainment, and then there's the widely accessible, relatable story and premise for people to dissect. Importantly, I asked Will Gluck about the dystopian aspect of this movie. I shared a common saying I hear, which is, "This was a great movie, I'd never watch it again." I wasn't blown away by it, but I certainly found it fun, and I think there's hope in the idea that love can prevail in extraordinarily dark times.
