Nurture groups in primaries have decreased from 68 to 59 due to teachers being redeployed or absent. Councillor John Daly asked whether the reduction in nurture provision at primary schools is “impacting overall attainment”. Nurture groups catering for up to six children take place in primary schools in the mornings for pupils from P1 to P3. Glasgow’s approach to nurture groups has been described as a success story and other councils have been trained in the city’s methods. Many children taking part in the groups in primary schools are from deprived areas of the city.
