Members of parliament from the opposition have asked the Leader of opposition Joel Ssenyony, to engage with the speaker to allocate them opportunity to speak on the floor of parliament, saying the free sitting in parliament is being adopted where both the government and opposition MPs side on the left hand side of the speaker get more opportunities than opposition MPS. This was among the issues that came up as opposition MPs met for another induction where they also launched the opposition legislative priorities for the 12th parliament. The opposition MPs listed a number of legislative priorities such the tabling of the Contract Farming Bill, among others. The Contract Farming Bill, 2023, was introduced in 2024, reviewed in 2025, and withdrawn in March 2026 due to timing and the need for broader stakeholder alignment.
