PAKISTAN — Electricity consumers across the country are set to face an additional burden of around Rs9.8 billion in their August bills after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) notified a fuel cost adjustment (FCA) of 75 paisa per unit. The adjustment is higher than the previous month’s FCA of Rs0.34 per unit, resulting in an increase of about 41 paisa per unit compared with July. However, lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations and certain prepaid electricity consumers have been excluded from the additional charge. The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had initially requested a significantly higher adjustment of Rs1.20 per unit for June. These quarterly adjustments are incorporated into the base electricity tariff by the federal government.
