If Elvis truly was ‘The King’ of rock, though, then why was one of his biggest hits indebted to Bo Diddley?
Such was the extent of his influence, in fact, that the ‘Bo Diddley beat’ became a recognisable pattern employed in dozens of legendary songs.
Perhaps Presley’s most famous use of the Bo Diddley rhythm arrived in 1961, in the form of the legendary hit ‘(Marie’s the Name) His Latest Flame’.
If not ‘The King’, Bo Diddley was certainly the progenitor of rock and roll.
