The 1980s ensemble group that made Phil Collins feel like he was finally part of a rock bandHaving been a vital member of Genesis since the late 1970s, arriving at a time when the band significantly upped their game and became a much tighter act, you’d think that Phil Collins would have been content with the way things were going in his career.
Recruited at just 19, he was an integral part of the group’s rise to much more widespread popularity, a remarkable feat for a band who were more progressive in style.
“I was dumbfounded,” Collins recalled, “I didn’t know him at all.
“We became quite close,” he remarked, “It was nice to be part of a group that talked and drank like a group”.
A credit alongside the frontman of the greatest rock band of all time, and one that was especially known for their camaraderie, what more could you want?
