Convicted sex offender from Dixon charged after working near school during carnival at Petunia Fest: Police

Prosecutors say a Dixon man working at the Petunia Festival carnival near Dixon High School on July 4 is a child sex offender and have charged him with being unlawfully present within a school zone.
Dominique A. DeJesus, 54, is charged in Lee County with being present within a school zone as a child sex offender, a Class 4 felony.
He was sentenced to 16 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for each charge, court records show.
One was a Class 2 felony, and the other was a Class 3 felony, court records show.
Under the Illinois Carnival and Amusement Rides Safety Act, it’s illegal for carnival owners to hire a person who has been convicted of homicide, sex offenses, or is a registered sex offender.
