By acquiring Globalstar, Amazon has effectively shifted from being a “satellite broadband aspirant” to a vertically integrated telecommunications powerhouse.
Globalstar satellites, radio frequency spectrum, and operational expertise will enable Amazon Leo to add direct-to-device services to future generations of its low Earth orbit satellite network.
Amazon Leo has entered commercial service, with beta partnerships signed with Verizon, AT&T, Vodafone, and NASA, among others.
