The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has announced a series of urgent operational measures to address growing landside congestion at the Port of Tema, assuring stakeholders that efforts are underway to restore normal cargo flow and maintain efficient port operations. In response, the Authority said it has activated enhanced operational interventions and placed all relevant stakeholders on heightened operational alert. The measures are being implemented in close collaboration with shipping lines and terminal operators to improve cargo movement and maximise available terminal capacity. GPHA has also appealed to importers, clearing agents, and cargo owners to expedite the clearance and evacuation of their consignments from the port. "Prompt cargo evacuation remains essential to easing pressure on terminal space and supporting the continuous flow of trade through the port," the Authority said.
