GAUA resumes nationwide strike over pay disparities

The Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has announced the resumption of its suspended nationwide strike.
The Association has directed members across Ghana's public universities to stay away from work from Monday, August 10, until further notice over what it describes as widening pay disparities between teaching and non-teaching senior members.
GAUA said it supports improvements in the conditions of service for teaching senior members but maintained that such gains should not come at the expense of non-teaching senior members.
GAUA also expressed concern that the lowest-ranked teaching senior member, an assistant lecturer, now receives a higher market premium than the highest-ranked non-teaching senior member, such as a registrar or finance officer.
GAUA stressed that its action is not directed against teaching senior members but seeks equitable treatment for all senior members based on transparent and consistent principles.
