Matt Ellett, 32, of Normandy Drive in Taunton, was convicted of 19 offences following a trial before His Honour Judge Shepherd, which concluded on Wednesday, August 5. Ellett has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on October 5 of this year. Following the verdict, The Scout Association said Ellett has "betrayed the trust" placed in him by the young people. "Ellett was suspended from all contact with The Scouts in April 2021, as soon as we were made aware of his arrest. The Scout Association said their thoughts were with the victims of the crimes.
